New Smart Toothbrush Claims to Improve Brushing Habits

new smart toothbrushCES 2014 saw the introduction of the Kolibree electric toothbrush, a new sensory-equipped device that can very well be the future of brushing in front of that bathroom mirror. The product is designed with the idea that it can outsmart your dentist by analyzing and helping you keep track of your brushing habits over time with the help of an iOS or Android application.

The toothbrush contains various sensors which help pinpoint exactly where it is in your mouth and keeps track of all movements within certain specified regions. The regions are divided to make it easier to show you which parts of your mouth may need more of your attention. The brush also keeps track of how long you spend in each region and gives a percentage rating at the end depending on if you’ve spent the correct amount of time taking care of your teeth. Kolibree does not claim they’ve solved the crisis of periodontal disease or gingivitis, but having good or better brushing habits is the very best way to prevent these crises from developing in the first place.

There will be various models of the toothbrush available upon beginning the company’s Kickstarter program. The price will range from $99 to $200.

Some of the features of the new Kolibree toothbrush will include an impressive bristle design and easily accessible graphs for multiple people to compare brushing habits to one another. It will also have interchangeable heads so that multiple people in the family can use the brush, but of course Kolibree recommends that each family member buy their own.
